OPENING: 7 November 2002 6 p.m. From 7 November 2002 to 11 January 2003 Biasutti & Biasutti Gallery dedicates an important monographic exhibition to the master Renato Guttuso (Bagheria 1912-Rome 1987), entrusting the critical part in the catalogue to Elena Pontiggia. A series of oil works of great expressive significance and some mixed techniques have been brought together that summarize the painter's work from the 1930s to the 1980s. A span of time in which a great expressive force is highlighted and his youthful connection with Picasso first and then his post-cubist research of the materiality of things that has been able to give weight to a new artistic objectivity. In the course of his intense activity we see a passionate and lucid commitment to conquer the truth through style, to embody the most direct ethical and political sentiment in natural and stylistic images. Bagheria 1939, Lavandaia 1947, the fascinating Interno nello studioe 1947, the landscapes, and then the still lifes between 1958 and 1965. His creative line is confirmed as one of the most dense of human values, among the most sensitive, to recover an ideal relationship with the elements of nature. Painting and linguistic structure adapted to the things to be described, insisting on the analysis of objects: the "still life", the stuffed flask, telephones, bottles: "Natura morta con foglie e barattoli" 1965, "Oggetti nello studio" 1963, "Natura morta con pane" 1981, are a living example.
