GIULIO CAMAGNI. THE STILL LIGHT OF A TIMELESS WORLD

From  10 September to 20 October 2013

Biasutti & Biasutti Gallery is proud to present a solo show of works by the painter Giulio Camagni. His experience begins as a comic book artist with the Sergio Bonelli Editore, to which he later joins a more intimate and systematic research, that finds in painting his privileged expressive space. A strong and delicate sign divides the surface of his works following a kind of analytic code. The material is overlapped, layers of emotions mixed together, through the use of ash and pigments, create the infinite white, gray, black and brown shades.

Camagni himself adds: When I look at my paintings I find my masters and the lands that sustain and harbour them ... the cypress trees and the dry stone walls, the worn marbles and the sunburnt plaster, the arid beaches, the harsh and impassive mountains and the still light of a timeless world. I found the deleted frescoes of some abandoned country chapels , the lime of the stables and the brown dung, the sign of the man and his value.

About twenty works, including canvas and paper, take us back to a timeless state of mind, even arcane, ancient and modern at the same time, the past lives in the continuous research of this, nostalgic and strongly actual present.

About the artist: Giulio Camagni, born in 1973 in Udine, took the degree in Contemporary History at the University of Milan.
