CORRADO BONOMI. THE HIGHLY IMAGINATIVE IMAGERY

From  6 February to 1 March 2014

Biasutti & Biasutti gallery is proud to present a solo show of works by Corrado Bonomi, one of the most original and significant artist of the “ironic conceptualism”, an artistic movement born in Italy in the 1980’s. The exhibition presents Bonomi’s most notable works as Natural Phenomena, which are anthropomorphous portraits made of plastic fruits and vegetable, a bold association between a kitsch liking of a domestic ornament and the mannerist paintings by Arcimboldo; the little Fatal Enchanted Fairies, nice and funny winged fairies, dressed sexy pin-up style, which represent a fierce criticism to the contemporary society, guilty of make successful women in showgirls; and his rose garden or crops of sunflowers, made of plastic material of gardening.
The exhibition features Bonomi’s art as a combinatory game, which amazes the observer, makes him smile, think and stir up any doubt about contemporary living, using the playful aspect to emerge the sarcastic one.
