Biasutti & Biasutti Gallery presents its collectors with a selection of photographic works by screenwriter, director and writer Enrico Vanzina (b. Rome, 1949). The photographs take the form of contemporary still lifes: autonomous works conceived to engage in dialogue with one another, creating a series of “variations” on a number of icons of contemporary life. United by the use of pop colours and an essential visual language, the images tell the story of the world through objects, shapes and figures. Free from a single vanishing point, the compositions are pleasantly disorienting and rich in references, articulated across multiple levels through a digital pictorial methodology. The colours, at times delicate and at others vibrant, contribute to creating a suspended dimension in which time seems to stand still. The works thus evoke Enrico Vanzina’s universe: cinema celebrities, characters, objects and fragments of everyday life become the protagonists of fifty “cult snapshots.” Images capable of transforming a fleeting moment into a tangible picture while preserving its emotion intact. Each photograph emerges from an immediate and unrepeatable gesture. The delicate yet intense colour rendering retains the unpredictable quality traditionally associated with film photography, making each image unique. Enrico Vanzina observes, selects and captures time: one frame at a time.
