GIULIO TURCATO. L’EMOZIONE DEL COLORE

OPENING: Thursday 3 October 2019 6 p.m.
4 October – 30 November 2019

Biasutti & Biasutti Gallery is proud to present an exhibition dedicated to Giulio Turcato (b. Mantova 1912 – d. Rome 1995). Twenty-five key works from the early Sixties to the Eighties represent the body of this retrospective, tracing the career of an artist, who has never been tied to trends, but has always preferred a free creativity giving his works an extraordinary poetic lightness. The exhibition itinerary is articulated through different type of works. The Superfici lunari (lunar surfaces) in which the evident laceration and coloring of the foam rubber evoke splendid selenitic landscapes; the Arcipelaghi (Archipelagos) the result of a consideration on natural evolution; the Mosche cinesi (Chinese Flies), an homage to the ideogram, a product of his long trip to the Far East; the Cangianti (Iridescent) where the search for color together with the experimentation of new materials create fluorescent and phosphorescent images; the Collages characterized by the artist’s ironic vision about coins and lastly the Alleluia. A journey through which the singularity of an artist, whose center was the union of an ideal and a real element, is outlined to converge towards the sum of a sign objectivity. The exhibition catalogue will be presented on Thursday 7 November 2019 at 18.00.
