OPENING: 13 October 2016
From 13 October to 5 November 2016
Biasutti & Biasutti Gallery is pleased to present Piero Livio solo exhibition. Following the exhibition at Ettore Fico Museum ( 8 Sept. - 2 Oct. 2016), the gallery will show a selection of objects, realized from the seventies to the present day, part of an organized and catalogued production. Enclosed in cruets and real glass cases, the objects are made through occasional ways, set up with fragile organic bread crumb bindings, beeswax and thin copper wires. Assemblages with a new identity, born from scrap, waste destined for oblivion, familiar objects while other unknown, located where we would never think to find them. As the author says, his “irresistible passion” is to:
Revitalize, recombine, recompose, to reappraise abandoned objects I find in my way [...]. From the beginning this "mania" took over bulky size (over the years I have produced more than eight hundred) and ironically I called "dustmuseum" the set of shelves and boxes that I was filling up.
Livio is keen to argue that his works are not works, but objects, with a new dignity, a unit wrapped in a pod, in the skin of a nymph or a primordial fog, as elements of the same body [...]
A series of photographs depicting the exposed objects, representing a positive and a negative of the image itself, to re-store the object and its new meaning as well. Photography as a snapshot almost an x-ray, stabilizes, conserves, moving the object to a new dimension, it is like an ideal "transparent bell." A front and behind shooting, a positive and a negative, the coupling of a bipolarity almost by chance, not chosen among the millions of possible representations as it might be a shadow, an X-ray, a movie or a picture.
The exhibition will be held also at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris (22 Nov. 2017 - 22 Jan. 2018) Catalogue available.
