Biasutti & Biasutti Gallery presents a personal exhibition by Gabriele Turola (Ferrara 1945), entitled Fantasie del Mondo Naturale. He attended the Liceo Classico "L. Ariosto" and the "Dosso Dossi" Art Institute of Ferrara. Thanks to his father Bruno, he met De Chirico, Morandi, Annigoni, Guidi, Saetti and Carlo Levi. In 1992 he published the book of poems: The voice of things. The meeting with Lisa Ponti in 1993 opened up new artistic horizons for him. In Ferrara, a city with a magical tradition, there are the Renaissance frescoes of Palazzo Schifanoia of an astrological-esoteric character, here the great Cosmé Tura applied alchemy to painting, here Paracelsus graduated and Ariosto and Dosso Dossi lived at the Este court, both inventors of winged fables. Turola, whose roots lie precisely in this tradition, began working for Franco Toselli's gallery in Milan in 1994. In 1998 he held a solo show at Ca 'di Fra', in Milan, and in 2002 at the Toselli gallery. He has also set up exhibitions in Italy and abroad: at Victor Saavedra of Barcelona, at Col of Tokyo, at Ippolito Simonis of Paris, art fairs in Brussels and Berlin. Turola's artistic production blends the stimuli that come to him from the avant-gardes: Futurism, Abstractionism, Surrealism, reinterpretation of comics in a Pop key. The protagonist of his paintings is color, intended as a medicine that consoles and brings joy, for which natural images, women, animals, plants, minerals and even machines become a pure pretext to express the mystery of the world, following in this way the great lesson of Nicola De Maria and Gino de Dominicis cosmic and magical artists. The exhibition is accompanied by a book, with the presentation by Nicola De Maria and the critical text by Elena Pontiggia, where ninety paintings are reproduced accompanied by stories, written by the artist himself, with the aim of combining image and word, literary contents and colorful scenes that give rise to a colorful and fairytale universe governed by the laws of harmony.
