LA SEMANTICA DEL SEGNO

Capogrossi, Crippa, Dorazio,Hartung, Mathieu, Novelli, Perilli, Sanfilippo, Scanavino, Schneider, Tobey, Vedova

OPENING:  24 November 2011

From  24 November 2011 to 14 January 2012

An exhibition dedicated to the artists of the "sign", primary element of the abstract-informal syntax widespread both in Europe and in the United States. A trend represented by Hans Hartung, Georges Mathieu and Emilio Vedova; there is no shortage of works characterized by oriental and Zen influences created by Mark Tobey. In informal painting the distinction between "sign" and "gesture" is not simple, but the conclusion of a "gesture" is always a "sign" which often ends in calligraphic elements typical of Giuseppe Capogrossi and Antonio Sanfilippo or with the geometry of Piero Dorazio and Achille Perilli. Emilio Scanavino, Roberto Crippa and Gerard Schneider also belong to the informal language. Finally, painting understood as writing is represented by a very interesting work by Gastone Novelli. Until 14 January 2012. Also open on Sundays 4, 11 and 18 December 2012.
