Piero Gilardi. Bianca Natura | |||||||||||
OPENING: 17 November 2005 Biasutti & Biasutti Gallery presents an exhibition by Piero Gilardi (Turin 1942), entitled Bianca Natura. Trained at the Accademia in Turin in the second half of the 1960s, in a climate of widespread nostalgia for "naturalness", he began to create ironic "nature carpets", floor sculptures in polyurethane foam, and other fragments of natural environments faithfully reconstructed with synthetic materials, in a paradoxical denunciation of the predominance of the artificial over the real. Twenty works whose theme is snow. Therefore, there are recurring subjects such as snowy woods, frozen lakes, streams, whitewashed streams and landscapes that transmit sensations of rare beauty that can be felt immediately after a snowfall. In these singular compositions there is no lack of natural elements such as flowers, corn, pumpkins and red cabbage lying on the fresh snow. On this occasion, a work entitled "Wild Throne" will be presented with which visitors can interact. The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue illustrating the works on display near which the sketches of the same will be published. Gilardi's artistic career will be documented through a selected critical texts by Achille Bonito Oliva, Dan Cameron, Frank Popper, Roberto Vidali, Pier Paolo Benedetto and other writings that have witnessed his artistic activity.
